BUCYRUS — The Wynford Board of Education briefly met Tuesday afternoon for a special board meeting to pass construction plans.
Board members voted to approve the acceptance of Student Wellness and Success Fund Grant through the ODE and an agreement with North Central Ohio Educational Service Center to partner with the school district to allocate student wellness funds for renovations to the elementary playground.
The board also accepted bids to construct new baseball and softball fields and for new elementary playground renovations.
“The money for the baseball and softball fields isn’t coming from our general funds, but it’s coming from the interest that we accrued through our bonds over time,” Superintendent Fred Fox said. “The playground renovations, we are doing with grant funds, so both of these projects are not in our general funds.”
The baseball and softball complex had to be moved due to the construction of the new high school building having to be placed in its location because of the previous building and where the utilities come in.
“We debated a long time to leave the baseball field where it’s at, but in the end, with the condition of our present facilities, we felt it was necessary to go ahead and make this change,” Fox said.
