i like these phones, just wish they would fit them with high end cams, a modern 64mp sony sensor would be nice (not fishbowl ultrawide). i would probably get one then.

IT always baffled me that Nokia gave those phone powerful hardware but they still felt slow
and could not multi-task

Got so excited when I saw that picture, but no, just a flash back!

nokia were the kings of smartphone design and innovation at the time, unfortunately they didnt go with the times and stuck with symbian which was one big part of their downfall, their N series phones were miles ahead of the competition at the time, they should have gone to android in the early stages and kept making some devices for symbian users, their transition was too slow, their market share was eradicated pretty much overnight after an initial spike in sales, almost all of these sales then went over to Samsung and Apple, failed attempts at their own OS (in terms of user numbers) led to their collapse, shame really, the N8 was the last phone from nokia that I had, it was a fantastic phone and camera was superb for its time

>Would you want to see the Touch and Type series reborn

No, I definitely don't. The phone should have either a keypad or a touchscreen, both at once looks like a useless excess. Imho.

These were the times where a single glance can let you what phone is that
Now, if we cover the branding and camera, hard to tell what phone is it
The design world of smartphone has become so boring lately

I understand that there isn't that much room for experimentation these days on the bar smartphones, but at the very least they should bring back the two-stage camera shutter button...

Had the X3-02 9yrs ago. With the dedicated messaging button, it would take me to the sms app while I'm on a different app. Pressing back would then take me back to my previous app. So somehow I can say there's a bit of multitasking in it LOL. But damn that design was so gorgeous.

Can't wait to read an article about the Samsung Jet (which, if i recall correctly, was an updated version of the Ultra S8300, without the keypad - other interesting hybrid).

It'd be great also a flashback about Sony Ericsson's A100/A200 platforms, which had smartphone-like capabilities (3 j2me apps switching) without being one. They had been the only ones doing that for many years, in the dumbphone category. Amazing OS.

XCIV, 8 hours agoBack when phones looked innovative & different and not just a generic slab of glass and al... moreLOL. Innovative and look different? How are these innovative? Even Nokia themselves did a better job way long ago with their S60 phones. These are just half-assed attempt at tricking the lowest end consumer to pay more for seemingly “smart” features. Making things more complicated than it supposed to be is not innovative.

You want today phones look different? Like how, triangles?

I love the X3-02 Indian ad where people play table tennis and also type on their phone easily.
