The Hoboken Board of Education has announced a new project to create facilities for the school district that includes a new high school, and will hold a vote in January on whether to go forward with it.
The project, which was announced this week, is said to meet the needs of a growing population and their academic programs, and will “provide recreation space that the entire community will be able to enjoy.”
“With enrollment increases and the general age of the District’s existing buildings, long range facilities planning has been a top priority,” said the Board of Education in a statement shared to the school community. “We are extremely proud that this project reflects our wider goal of bridging our school community to the broader Hoboken community.”
No further details about the project have been revealed. The election for the project will take place on January 25, 2022. Beforehand, the plans will be presented to the city Planning Board in December as well as with public community meetings.
