COLUMBUS – Great River Connections Academy, a statewide online public charter school, recently appointed Rose Lynn of Salem to serve on its Board of Directors as a parent representative.
In 2018 the Lynns were among the first families to enroll their children in Great River Connections Academy when the school first started serving students. According to Rose, they chose the full-time online school because as local small business owners they found the flexible schedule enabled their family to have more time together.
Since then, all five of the Lynn children have attended Great River Connections Academy with their oldest, Angelina, graduating last spring and now a freshman at Kent State University. Over the last four years, Rose believes learning from home has given she and her husband, Joseph, the opportunity to learn so much about their children, their learning styles and how they need to be engaged.
“Having five kids in the same school has given us the opportunity to know everyone at the school very well and it has been a tremendously positive experience for our family,” Rose said. “The teachers have been wonderful, and we appreciate how they notice that every student is an individual and how they all learn differently.”
The Great River Connections Academy School Board is the governing body of the Great River Connections Academy charter school. Led by an independent Board of Directors, the School Board oversees the school’s operations and ensures that it’s following its mission to help students learn and grow.
