GeForce RTX 4090 with blower cooler
It goes without saying but RTX 4090 GPU with its 450W TDP is not something one would expect to get a blower-type cooler. Yet, such card does exists.
The card we reported on in November has now been confirmed by a Chinese seller. This time, however, this is not just a render but a real graphics card.
The original card was reportedly manufactured by Manli, but the company later contacted us to deny such claims. The card looks almost identical to what was seen in the leaked datasheet, but it is not 100% identical.
This RTX 4090 has one blower-type fan and one 16-pin power connector. However, the card is locked to 450W TDP, and it is even sold with 3x-8pin power connector, just in case there was any doubt about cooler capabilities (most RTX 4090 come with 4×8-pin which unlocks 450W+ power).
The card costs 15000 RMB (2150 USD) which is actually a bit expensive, even for RTX 4090. The current lowest price for RTX 4090 in China is around 13000 RMB, while many high-end custom models such as Colorful iGame Vulcan cost 15000 RMB. Therefore, this price does not look very attractive, considering there are far better options.
A few years back, blower-type coolers were considered the cheapest option and for custom liquid-cooled systems. These cards are also successfully used in multi-GPU clusters for advanced compute workloads, anything that can really run CUDA effectively. For anything else NVIDIA has their RTX workstation or data-center GPUs, which is also the reason board partners were told to cancel their plans for high-end blower cards.
