We previously expected the Integra Type S to come with a tuned version of the brand's 2.0-liter VTEC turbo I-4 engine and an available manual transmission with a limited-slip differential. Today, Acura has announced that engine will make 320 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque, and it will come exclusively with a six-speed manual transmission. That's right, you won't be able to get it with an automatic or, heaven forbid, a CVT. Acura also promises a "class-leading power-to-weight ratio," which could mean it even has the Civic Type R beat at something.
Speaking of the Type R, it's only down a bit on power compared to the new Type S, at 315 hp and matching the 310 lb-ft of torque. Those figures were an improvement of 9 hp and 15 lb-ft over the previous-gen Civic Type R—the Integra Type S now bests all of them, at least on paper. A teaser video of the new Type S released today confirms a centrally-mounted triple exhaust poking out of the rear end, with a nice bit of exhaust crackle under acceleration. Teaser photos advertise wider fender flares and a sportier stance.
Acura says the new Integra Type S will be revealed in full just before the 48th annual Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach next month. MotorTrend anticipates the car will start at a MSRP of around $48,000, if the pricing model for the hot Honda is anything to go by.
