Today (Wednesday) is the first day people interested in running for a school board seat may file a petition to do so. Residents can obtain the necessary paperwork at their respective county Circuit Court Clerk’s office. Those persons who meet the requirements to be a candidate will be on the Nov. 3 General Election ballot.
Three seats on the South Harrison Community School Corp. will be on the ballot. They are one of the three Harrison Township seats, currently held by Larry Hauswald, the Boone/Taylor Township seat, held by Shelly Romero, and the Posey Township seat, held by Mindy Wibbels.
Two seats on the North Harrison Community School Corp. board are up for election. Incumbents are Gregg Oppel, the Blue River Township representative, and Kerry Ingle, who represents Morgan Township.
The Lanesville Community School Corp. board, which consists of all at-large members, will have three of the five up for grabs in November. Incumbents are Chan Bailey, Sharon Rothrock and Robert (Bob) Schickel.
Four seats on the Crawford County board are up for election. Those seats are currently held by Larry Bye, Doug McLain, Myrna Sanders and Dennis Talley.
The deadline to file to be a candidate is noon Friday, Aug. 21.
