Re-elected Morgan County School Board members John Rowland and Pete Gordon were sworn in for their new four-year term on the school board at their June 30 morning meeting at the Morgan County Board of Education office. Morgan County Commissioner Joel Tuttle administered the oath of office to them.

Gordon and Rowland were elected to four-year terms on the school board in May, 2016. Their new term will run from July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2024.

Gordon became a new board member in 2016 while Rowland was first elected to the school board in 2012. Gordon has served a two-year term as school board vice-president from July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2020. The school board will choose their new officers at their 6 p.m. Monday, July 6 organizational meeting.

Morgan County Schools Superintendent Kristen Tuttle was also sworn into office by

Aaron Close and Kristen Tuttle.

Morgan County School Board president Aaron Close at the June 30 meeting. Tuttle was approved for a three-year employment term from July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2023 at the February 18 school board meeting. Tuttle served a one-year term as Interim School Superintendent that began on July 1, 2019.

Tuttle’s base salary for year 1 as superintendent will be $106,500, year 2-$110,760 and year 3-$115,190, said school board president Aaron Close previously. The median salary for West Virginia school superintendents is $121,000.
