Thorapple Kellogg — The public is invited to attend school board interviews with four superintendent finalists for Thornapple Kellogg schools on Tuesday, Nov. 10 and Wednesday, Nov. 11.
The upcoming interviews will be held in room 1616 of the Middle School at 10375 Green Lake Road in Middleville.
Seating will be limited because of COVID-19 protocols, but a Zoom option will be available.
Scheduled to be interviewed are:
- Louis Steigerwald, Superintendent of Norway-Vulcan Area Schools, Tuesday at 6 p.m.;
- Tim Reeves, Superintendent of Shelby Public Schools, Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.;
- Dan Remenap, Superintendent of the Hastings Area School System, Wednesday at 6 p.m.;
- Dr. James Konrad, Superintendent of the Washington School District, Pennsylvania, Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
Forms for questions and public comment will be available for attendees on both days.
Those who join via Zoom are invited to email questions or comments to Dave Killips, the district’s consultant from Michigan Leadership Institute, at dkkillips@gmail.com.
In a statement, board President Dave Smith said: “We were pleased with the applicant pool and interest … especially with the timing of our search. The Board continues to appreciate the input from the public and encourages people to attend or view the interviews.”
The district had 25 applicants for the post from a wide range of vocations, including traditional and nontraditional backgrounds, before narrowing it down to a final four.
The search became necessary when former superintendent Rob Blitchok announced his retirement effective Oct. 1. Since then retired Byron Center superintendent Dan Takens has been interim Superintendent, but Takens did not apply for the position on a permanent basis.
The TK board hopes to have a new superintendent in place by the beginning of 2021.
