The Nursing Home Board met last Thursday and the meeting ended hastily following a motion being made to institute a two meeting per month policy.
Beginning in January, the board will begin meeting two times per month due to “lack of communication.”
Controversy arose in the board meeting after Livingston Enterprise reported the number of losses the facility had due to COVID-19.
“When I read that in the paper, that just did something to me,” board member Randall Boswell said. “We asked. That’s what the board meetings are for.”
“When you can answer the newspaper, but can’t answer us here… That just doesn’t make sense,” board member Billie Phipps said.
While Overton County Health and Rehab (OCHR) Administrator Jennifer Bouldin did not answer directly when asked at last month’s meeting, she informed the board that the data is public record.

“A month is too long to go without a meeting,” Boswell stated. “There could be something happen next week that we need to have a meeting on.”
He explained that this is new policy is to be better informed as board members in the ever-changing climate of COVID-19.
“We’re very happy with the job that Jennifer has been doing,” he said. “She does excellent work.”
The two meeting per month policy will continue on a month-by-month basis for up to six months.
