Brad Ingle took the oath of office Thursday evening to begin his third term as chairman of the Walker County Board of Education.
Ingle was sworn in by Hon. Judge Hoyt Elliott and was joined by his family for the special occasion.
He has been chairman of the school board since 2008, and by the time Ingle finishes out his third term, he will have been chairman of the Walker County Board of Education for 18 years.
"That's quite an accomplishment," Walker County Schools Superintendent Dr. Joel Hagood said following the swearing-in ceremony that was part of the board's regular meeting.
Hagood also took a moment during the meeting to recognize Ingle for serving as District 7 director for the Alabama Association of School Boards, for which he will begin a second term next month.
As District 7 director, Ingle represents the Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Marion, Pickens, Sumter, Tuscaloosa, and Walker County school boards and Winfield, Tuscaloosa, and Jasper city school boards.
In addition, Ingle recently achieved the master third-year level in the Alabama Association of School Boards Academy. The academy recognizes training hours dedicated by board members across the state.
In early 2020, Ingle told the Daily Mountain Eagle, “I know and understand where our school system was when I was elected in 2008, and where we are today is in better shape to provide a great education for the children of Walker County. I am proud to be a small part in making a positive influence and creating a great opportunity for our children to be successful in life.”
In addition to Ingle's swearing-in ceremony, board member Trent Kennedy was recognized for professional development, reaching level two status in the Alabama Association of School Boards Academy.
