The Washington Township Board of Education, which has conducted its bimonthly meetings remotely over Webex since March, now will begin live-streaming its meetings via YouTube starting with its scheduled work session at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22.
The nine members of the board and district administrators will convene at the Eileen Abbott Central Administration Building, 206 E. Holly Ave. in Sewell. Community members wishing to address the board in person will be permitted to attend. However, COVID protocols will limit the number of community members in the room to 17 at any one time. If the in-person audience exceeds this amount, community members wishing to address the board will be asked to wait in the parking lot and will be summoned in by security when it is their turn to speak.
In addition to the livestream platform, BOE meetings will continue to be shared on Webex, and community members still will have an option to submit questions through the link provided. These questions also will be shared and answered during the public portions of the meeting. The meetings will continue to be posted after completion to the podcasts on the district website, as well as aired on WT-TV (Channel 36-Verizon/Channel 9 – Comcast).
“Live-streaming puts us one step closer to normalcy, allowing us to offer in-person public participation while complying with COVID-19 related protocols,” Board president Julie Kozempel said. “We will continue to include this option, along with our virtual format, as long as we can safely do so.”
School board work sessions to be live-streamed through 2020 are scheduled for Sept. 22, Oct. 13, Nov. 17 and Dec. 15.
School board regular meetings to be live-streamed through 2020 are scheduled for Sept. 29, Oct. 27, Nov. 24 and Dec. 21.
