ELKINS — The Randolph County Commission unanimously approved the appointment of six members to the recently established E911 Advisory Board during its regular meeting Thursday at the James Cain Courthouse Annex.
The new board was voted on and approved at the commission’s last meeting earlier this month and consists of one fire service provider, one law enforcement provider, one emergency medical provider (hospital-related), and one emergency services provider.
The county’s fire departments will be represented by Tygart Valley Fire Company Chief Bob Elbon. Randolph County Emergency Squad Director Kurt Gainer will represent emergency services in the county, while Davis Medical Center Liaison Officer Hollis Lipscomb will represent the hospital and medical provider services.
Law enforcement appointed members include Randolph County Sheriff Rob Elbon, Elkins Police Department Chief Travis Bennett and Sgt. David Simmons of the West Virginia State Police.
Office of Emergency Management and Randolph County 911 Director Cindy Hart will serve as ex officio of the board.
“I look forward to all of those folks servicing the county,” said Randolph Commission President Mark Scott. “We will get together with the board members and let them know they’ve been appointed, that way they can get started on their work.”
Each representative’s appointment for will be for a term of three years will begin on June 1. The board will adopt its own policies, rules or regulations necessary for its own guidance. The board will meet either monthly or quarterly and can make recommendations to the county concerning the operations of the system.
