The Morristown zoning board got an earful Saturday while touring the site of a proposed apartment complex on Turtle Road.
Board members were there to visualize 28 units that would resemble Turtle Road Commons, built by the same developer, the Silverman Group, after a similar zoning board visit in 2015.
Project Planner Michael Tobia gave the board a brief tour of amenities at Turtle Road Commons…and residents of the nearby Village at Convent Station condos sounded off about their Commons neighbors.
Sharon O’Neil, president of the Village condo association, said condo owners spent $18,000 for a 700-foot fence to keep out Commons trespassers and their pets, which do their doggie business on Village lawns.
O’Neil and fellow condo residents wanted to know what steps Silverman would take to curb tenants of the proposed apartments.
The application is pending; the next virtual hearing is scheduled for July 7, 2021. A use variance is required to build multifamily housing in this parking lot, behind two commercial buildings at 161-163 Madison Ave.
“I encourage everyone to attend our meetings whether in person or virtual in order to provide comments and questions for every application,” said board Chairman Steve Pylypchuk.
