However, another discussion thread brought up a second possibility concerning ice Pokemon. These users pointed out that hot water melts ice, so the water-type move Scald should be super effective against ice Pokemon. This isn't the first time Pokemon fans have noticed odd design choices in the franchise, but it would make a lot more sense if Scald did extra damage against ice Pokemon.

Several users commented about the powerful move Freeze-Dry, an ice-type move that is specifically super effective against water Pokemon. According to several testimonies, Freeze-Dry is so useful that users hung on to Pokemon who know it, such as Glalie, well into the post-game of Pokemon Sword and Shield as well as Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.
