BELOIT — The West Branch school board has set the participation fees for the 2021-2022 school year.
The fees will be for both athletics and extracurricular activities. There will be a maximum of $200 per student and $400 per family.
For kindergarten through fourth-grade, the fee will be $35 per students per musical/play; fifth- through eighth-grade, $20 per student for unlimited activities/clubs, $35 per student per musical/play, $75 per student for unlimited sports (seventh- and eighth-grade only); ninth- through 12th-grade, $100 per student per sport, $25 per student for unlimited activities/clubs, $35 per student per musical/play. Students who are in band class during the school day and receive a grade are exempt from the fee since the class is co-curricular.
Under personnel, the board accepted the resignation Jody Edie as bus driver and fired Melissa Goudy as bus driver for abandonment of her position.
The board also hired Grover Scott Sparks; Tara Robb for the Warrior Academy and eGroup staff; LouAnn Geiger, Mandy Zadigian and Ginger Williamson as Title 1 Tutors; Jennifer Woods as a tutor; and LaDonna Handy as an aide.
Additionally the board approved supplemental contracts for the 2021-2022 school year to Bill Eddins for varsity boys basketball assistant, Brandon Patterson for junior varsity basketball, John Hancock for freshman basketball, Jake Weaver for eighth-grade basketball, Logan Coe for seventh-grade basketball, Bob Brown and Mike Kelly as boys basketball volunteers, Lou Sellaroli for junior varsity girls basketball, Tony Lucente for eighth-grade girls basketball, Chris Adams for seventh-grade girls basketball, Mike Butcher for girls basketball volunteer, Cameron Martig for varsity wrestling assistant, Mark Brink for junior varsity wrestling, Ken Faulkner for varsity wrestling assistant, Christian Wayt and Jonathon James for middle school wrestling, Ryan Ficco for wrestling volunteer, Kristen Reynolds for swimming volunteer, Chris Brown for instrumental music, Lauren Stitle for instrumental music assistant, Lauren Stitle for Young & Alive/vocal, Krista Clay for musical director and Greg Sharp for vocational agriculture.
Also at the meeting the board accepted $600 from various donors to the athletic department in memory of Stephen Tucker, $5,000 from MAC Trailer to Project Lead the Way and bottled water from Daniel Zippay (Custom Agri Systems NE).
A Meet the Candidate Night has been scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Oct. 25 in the high school Auditorium.
