Everybody knows the general duty of the LMG in Call of Duty: Vanguard. Stay back, provide suppressing fire, support the team, and maybe get an occasional kill if the opportunity presents itself. The Type 11 can certainly do all of these things. But it doesn't do them any better or worse than the other LMGs.
To make it special, players will want to utilize what makes the Type 11 unique. The great hipfire accuracy is an indication that gamers should maybe consider turning the Type 11 into an SMG, a role in which it performs as well or better than guns of that class. Call of Duty: Vanguard allows such a playstyle, so why not take advantage of it?
Operator
Players who have taken to time to unlock all of the operators might be inclined to use their favorite one for every gun. But doing so makes the leveling process that much harder. When Shigenori uses the Type 11, he gets a bonus to experience for the gun.
In turn, the gun also gives his character extra experience as well. At top level, the Type 11 can work in anyone's hands. But getting to max level and completing the exhaustive to-do attachment list is made much easier when these two forces join up.

With speed, stealth, and staying power, the Type 11 is unlike any other close-range fighting build. It makes sense that this weapon isn't among the guns that are unlocked for free at the start of the game. It's a quirky but effective reward for players later on.
This gun is meant to be hipfire only. The cartridge, default or otherwise, is in a location that cuts out important visuals while aiming at opponents. Also, like most LMGs, reloading is a risky affair. The improved magazine will help and even give the Type 11 an advantage over other SMGs that have to reload every few seconds.
Secondary Weapon
- FS Fighting Knife
To further assist with speed, forfeit the launchers and stick with a knife. The FS Fighting Knife isn't directly helpful to the build, which should be shooting instead of stabbing, but it is light and allows players to get up close as fast as possible.
There is a point to be made for switching to the FS Fighting Knife when sneaking up on an enemy. Such a tactic would have been helpful for getting the "Ticket Please" achievement. Still, it works out in multiplayer well, just keep those footsteps silent.
Perks

Although perks would have been helpful for a number of campaign missions, players don't get access to them until the multiplayer. That works out just fine since the stealth really comes into focus with the buffet of perks presented here.
Ninja is a must, since footsteps and breathing in the game are very audible, even from mid-range. Once behind enemy lines, Tracker essentially highlights the path to free behind-the-back kills. And Lightweight will speed things up further, helping the Type 11 feel all the more like an SMG.
Lethal Slot
- Gammon Bomb
The lethal slot can feel like a waste at times because the Type 11 will quickly dispatch anything within the range of thrown projectiles. However, the Gammon Bomb adds an important finishing element in the rare event that the gun runs out of ammo.
It should be clear that if the gun runs out of ammunition, the player has probably racked up many kills already. For the sake of killstreaks, sometimes the gun runs dry just as another kill is almost secured. Different versions of the game have different unlocks, but everybody should have access to the Gammon Bomb. Toss it instead of trying to reload in the heat of combat.
Tactical Slot
- No 69 Stun Grenade
Sometimes the increased hipfire accuracy of the gun can be a weakness, especially when coming across a lot of opponents in a single room. In these instances, instead of trying to take on three at a time straight up, toss in the No 69 Stun Grenade.
It detonates immediately and slows down enemies just enough to get off some clean attacks. A group of four can fall to the Type 11 before they've fully recovered from the stun effect. It's a useful trick for getting double and triple kills.
Killstreaks
- Intel
- Spy Plane
- Local Informants
There are two cheap killstreak options here. Intel and Spy Plane will both help reveal targets, especially when the Tracker perk isn't picking anything up. Sometimes it's just a matter of being in the right area. Seeing enemies before running into them gives the Type 11 the only edge it needs in a battle between two SMG-like weapons.
Local Informants, on the other hand, is the most expensive killstreak in the game for a good reason; it reveals all opponents and unofficially wins the game for the team. Getting it is tough, but the Type 11 loaded out for silence, has a very real chance of getting it.
Field Upgrade
To assist in getting to those twelve kills in a row, the Dead Drop helps by giving players an extra opportunity to try and hit the mark. Go ahead and be liberal in its usage, toss one down after getting anywhere between five and seven kills.
Even if players can't get it consistently, the ultra-fast recharge time makes it a risk-free venture. Even if it only happens in a handful of games, the strength of the Local Informant killstreak is worth it. It benefits the Type 11 directly, as well as all of its allies.
