Here's how you can enable Type to Siri on your Mac running macOS Monterey for typing Siri requests without using your voice.
You Can Ask Siri to Do Stuff by Simply Typing Commands Using the Keyboard with Type to Siri on the Mac, Here's How to Enable it
Some might agree that Siri is more useful on a Mac than it is on an iPad. It allows you to do a bunch of stuff, even pin requests to the desktop if you like. Definitely useful.
But, just like Siri on any other platform, you have to audibly tell the assistant what you want. While it may not be a problem for everyone, it can become a bit of a nuisance when you're sitting in a library or a place that demands quietness. In that case, you might want to consider a second option for interacting with Siri. And this is where 'Type to Siri' comes in, allowing you to type your requests to Siri rather than speaking them. Thankfully, you can enable it on the Mac.
Once enabled, you can simply invoke Siri by clicking on the Siri button in the Dock or the menu bar and then type in what you want from the assistant. You don't have to use your voice at all. If you prefer to use Siri this way, then we will show you how you can enable the feature on your Mac right now.
Enable Type to Siri on Mac
Step 1. Launch System Preferences in macOS.
Step 2. Now click on Accessibility.
Step 3. In the list of available options on the left, scroll all the way down to the General section and then click on Siri.
Step 4. Now simply enable the Type to Siri feature from here and clock Accessibility options.
In order to test out this feature, simply bring up Siri by clicking on the Siri icon in the Dock or the menu bar. The Siri window will appear and you'll see a cursor inside it, awaiting your request as shown in the screenshot below:
Type in whatever you want to know and then hit the Return key on the keyboard and you'll get a reply back.
While this feature is great and all, but it can be super inconvenient if you have large requests. But, if you are fine with that then this feature was made specially for you. No need to talk to your Mac when you can just type everything away.
