The Jefferson County PUD has voted to increase electric rates for residential and general service customers.

The actual rates were determined by a study from FCS Group, a consultant group that the PUD has been working with since April 2020.

Their analysis found a need to increase overall rates by 16.75 percent over the next four years. Beginning in July 2021, these rate increases will allow the electric utility to meet its revenue requirement.

Commissioners approved new rates at their last meeting.

The 16.75 percent increase will raise basic charges depending on customer class.

For residential customers with single phase basic charges, monthly rates with increase from $18.50 to $21.00 in 2021. In 2022, rates will increase by $2.50 more. Basic rate charges will be $26.00 by 2023 with another $2.50 tacked on in 2024 for a total of $28.50.

For three phase residential customers, monthly rates with increase from $27.00 to $30.65 in 2021. In 2022, rates will increase to $34.30. Basic rate charges will be $37.95 by 2023 with another $3.64 added in 2024 for a total of $41.59.
