ROCHESTER, MI - You could throw some epic murder mystery dinner parties at this “Game of Thrones” type home, which just hit the market today. This is as close to living in a medieval castle as it gets.
Located at 2009 Victoria Hill Drive in Rochester in Metro Detroit and for sale for $2.29 million, this 10,790-square-foot castle sits on more than 6 acres and is surrounded by a wrought iron fence and two gated towers. You can get a taste of the home in the photo gallery above.
The five-level home is 60 feet tall. The frame was built with 60 tons of steel. Inside, there are 26 rooms, some of which are hidden. There’s even secret passageways and a hidden tower with a 50-foot-tall spiral staircase.
“This is ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 9,” Nicholas Asplund of Lux Partners Global enthusiastically told MLive when talking about the home. “The build quality and cost is unmatched and couldn’t be done today for under $15,000,000. The surprises are endless. It must truly be seen to be believed.”
The owner of the home brought in people from all over the world to help construct it over a six-year period in the 90s.
“It’s just a straight up medieval castle,” added Asplund. “The owner had a lot of money and when he was building this home, he told the designers what he wanted and they brought in people from all over, sourcing things from across the globe. They didn’t spare any expenses. It’s super solid and massive. I mean, it’s built out of stone and steel.”
The house is located in the back of a private sub in a gated community. There’s another gate that leads to a a winding road with the home situated at the top of a hill. The whole 6 acres is surrounded by a wrought iron fence.
To enter the home, you must cross the drawbridge above the moat and waterfall before walking through the portcullis at the front entrance.
Inside, there are five fireplaces, six new furnaces, a wine cellar and a Tudor-style pub. There’s also a secret underground grotto with Jacuzzi, a hidden dungeon, fitness center, billiard room, library with a loft and a home theater with an 8′ by 6′ screen.
On top of all that, there’s an elevator with 10-foot-tall oak and mirror cars. There are six balconies outside and two more inside. There’s also interior parking with room for four vehicles.
There are four bedroom suites with an additional fifth bedroom. There’s five full bathrooms and two half baths. Lastly, there’s an adjacent 1,200-square-foot castle, which is the garage and workshop.
Here is the listing to the home. You can contact Nicholas Asplund at Lux Partners Global for more information at 810-222-9019 or via email. Here is a video of the home.
