Select Board divided on returning to in-person meetings - The Inquirer and Mirror

(June 17, 2021) Select Board members are torn on a return to in-person meetings, despite a bill Gov. Charlie Baker signed Wednesday afternoon allowing the board to keep meeting on Zoom until next April.

“All of us are eager to get back, and we all agree the conversations flow better when we’re in the same room, but we’re not ready to move back,” board member Kristie Ferrantella said.

Ferrantella is among a majority of the board that wants the town to delay a return to at least the fall. She said it would give the board time to figure out how it can launch a hybrid format with simultaneous discussion online over Zoom and in the first-floor meeting room at the Fairgrounds Road public-safety building.

But not all board members agree a delay is the best way forward, now that the governor’s state of emergency is over and other town regulatory boards and committees have already moved back to in-person meetings.
