Brad Strouse of EastCoast Entertainment has been named chairman of the board of the Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, William D. Johnston of Village Bank; Robert Kelland Jr. with Aflac and the Midlothian Business Alliance; business consultant Justin Lopus; Bernadette Spencer of Destiny Designed Unlimited LLC; and Rob Youngblood with Centura College have joined the board of this networking, education and advocacy group for three-year terms.

Frank Petroski, president of the Midlothian Business Alliance, has announced that three new members have assumed roles on MBA’s board of directors: Jon Greenhill of Gather Workspaces, Chris McClaning of RSG Landscaping and James Shea of Media Lab. Chris Jenkins of Commonwealth Commercial has been named vice president and community affairs chair. In February, MBA will be hosting its annual Midlothian Outlook 2020 featuring Board of Supervisors members Leslie Haley (Midlothian District) and Chris Winslow (Clover Hill District). Johnston-Willis Hospital and Chippenham Hospital are two of the nine HCA Virginia Health System hospitals awarded an A in the fall 2020 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, the top score in a national distinction recognizing the hospital system’s achievements protecting patients from harm and providing safe health care. Of the more than 2,600 hospitals graded nationwide, only 33% earned an A grade for meeting some of the industry’s highest standards. The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization committed to improving health care quality and safety for consumers.

Bon Secours St. Francis Medical Center has achieved Magnet redesignation status for its nursing excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, hospital officials learned in December. Magnet designation is one of the most prestigious and coveted recognitions that a hospital can achieve for nursing excellence. St. Francis Medical Center, which received initial recognition in 2015, is one of three Bon Secours hospitals in Richmond to maintain Magnet status, including Bon Secours Memorial Regional Medical Center in Mechanicsville and Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond. These are among just 26 hospitals across Virginia to receive Magnet recognition.

Local audiologist Dr. Robyn Browne recently opened a new hearing aid practice, Inspired Hearing Solutions. Browne, who wears hearing aids herself, is dually licensed as an audiologist and a hearing aid specialist in the state of Virginia. She is also a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology, a member of Academy of Doctors of Audiology, and holds a certificate of clinical competency through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Chesterfield County Public Schools’ Budget Office recently earned its seventh consecutive Meritorious Budget Award from the Association of School Business Officials International, a professional education association that supports school business professionals. The Meritorious Budget Award promotes and recognizes excellence in school budget presentation practices. The budget office was awarded this honor for its excellence in the preparation and issuance of the school division’s fiscal year 2021 operating budget. This award is presented to school districts that meet or exceed the program’s rigorous criteria.
