Carla Owen: Improving our facilities to make them safer, enhance learning and address aging infrastructure. Through a board-recommended referendum, voters approved funding renovations at each of our schools. These extensive multi-year renovations are ongoing. We also need to continue our work to ensure that every student, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, economic or any other status feels safe at school and is given the opportunity to succeed. We’ve made important progress in equity training during my time on the board, but the work is not over, and I believe the Board must monitor, support and provide resources for this work for it to be successful. I am committed to doing this if re-elected.
