Metra has promoted Kevin McCann to Chief Operating Officer; STV, Inc., has appointed John D. Porcari, President of Axilion Smart Mobility USA, to the Board of Directors.
McCann has served as Metra’s Chief Mechanical Officer since January 2018, and will take over as COO starting July 1, upon Bruce Marcheschi’s retirement.
A 25-year Metra veteran, McCann started as a carman and rose through the ranks to Senior Rail Inspector, Project Manager for Metra’s railcar procurement program, Superintendent of the railcar rehab program, Director of the Rock Island Line’s Mechanical Division, Senior Director of Mechanical Operations, Senior Director of Mechanical Capital Projects, and CMO. Prior to joining the commuter rail agency, he worked for Midway Airlines and Norfolk Southern.

“In a career at Metra that spans more than two decades, Kevin has consistently demonstrated the skills and personality to do his job efficiently and effectively and lead others to do the same,” Metra Executive Director/CEO Jim Derwinski said.
At STV, Inc., Porcari is joining the Board of Directors. Prior to taking on leadership of Axilion Smart Mobility USA, he was President, U.S. Advisory Services for WSP USA. He has also served as the founding Executive Director of the Gateway Project Development Corporation, a joint venture of Amtrak, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and NJ Transit; Principal-in-Charge for the Moynihan Train Hall project at Pennsylvania Station, which opened Jan. 1; Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation (2009-2014); Secretary of the Maryland Department of Transportation (1999-2003 and 2006-2009); and COO and Chief Financial Officer of the University of Maryland; among other positions.
“I have known John for many years as a client and a colleague, and I believe he will be a great Board Member for STV,” STV President and CEO Greg Kelly said. “He joins our board at the perfect time, as the national emphasis on infrastructure regains momentum.”
