Pokémon: 10 Fairy-Types Who Totally Belong In A Different Type - Screen Rant

gomotar.blogspot.com

A truly underrated Pokémon type is the Fairy type, mostly because it just does not have too many Pokémon in its arsenal. At this current time, there are a grand total of 63 of them, and only 19 of them possess it as their only type. However, even with all of this being true, there actually are some pretty memorable Pokémon who are categorized in this unique type. For example, the famous Jigglypuff is a Fairy-type, and it is a playable character in every Super Smash Bros. game.

However, the primary complaint about this specific Pokémon type is that some of its members just do not seem to be good fits for it. This is likely because the franchise is looking to build this type up more. However, based on appearances alone, there are specific Pokémon that fans likely forget are Fairy-types. This does not mean that they are bad Pokémon, but it is hard not to imagine them in different classifications, and they seem ill-suited to the Fairy-type.

10 Snubbull

Snubbull from Pokemon series

Snubbell is a very interesting Pokémon from Generation II. It is easy for followers of the series to see that it is based on a bulldog, but it actually is not a Normal-type Pokémon.

Instead, it is a Fairy-type, which is a bit of a strange direction for it. Besides it being pink in color, it is hard to truly figure out why the franchise opted to make it this type. It honestly would have been cooler for it to even be a Fire-type, instead.

9 Mr. Mime

Mr Mike from Pokemon tv series

What is very interesting about Mr. Mime is that it originally was only a Psychic-type. This absolutely makes sense for it, as its appearance displays alone make it understandably possess these powers.

Yet, Generation IV resulted in it also becoming a Fairy-type, too. This seems to be a bit unnecessary, as it being a Psychic-type already was a perfect fit. It being a Fairy-type just seems like an unneeded add-on.

8 Marill

Marill from Pokemon tv series

Marill is one of the cutest Pokémon from the entire series, which makes fans love it automatically. Upon first glance, it is easy to predict that it is a Water-type because of its blue color.

However, what is an intriguing element of it is that it also is a Fairy-type, too. Nothing about its appearances really gives off that vibe, so it is something that casual gamers often forget. Thus, it is hard to back up its categorization as a Fairy-type Pokémon.

7 Gardevoir

Gardevoir from Pokemon tv series

Gardevoir looks like a Pokémon that is meant to be a Grass-type, but it sadly is not at all. Instead, it actually is a Psychic and Fairy-type. Although this does give it a unique identity, it just seems like it isn't the best possible fit for it.

Pokémon isn't going to change its type any time soon, but it is hard to accept that it is a Fairy-type in particular. Its green arms also look like stems, so they absolutely could have gone down a different path with it.

6 Mawile

Mawile from Pokemon series

Mawile is a very interesting Pokémon, as evidenced by the two black jaws on the back of its head. They seem to resemble a Venus flytrap in a way, so it is easy to think that this is a Pokémon that would be a Grass-type, too.

However, it actually is not at all, as it strangely is a Steel/Fairy Pokémon. The Fairy-type element of this creature is particularly perplexing, as nothing about it really strikes gamers as being magical.

5 Whimsicott

Whimsicott from Pokemon tv series

Whimsicott is a Generation V Pokémon that certainly is cute. It looks ever so fluffy, as it is made of cotton. It also is understandably a Grass-type, as it is found in those areas and is green in color, too.

Yet, it is another Pokémon that suddenly was granted the Fairy-type label as well. It just does not appear to be a Pokémon that warrants this description. A better option would have been making it a Psychic-type.

4 Mimikyu

Mimikyu from Pokemon tv series

Mimikyu is a hilarious creation from Pokémon, as it is literally Pikachu's imposter. It is a nice touch that the series has it as a Ghost-type, but the Fairy-type aspect of it is a little strange.

Given the fact that it never reveals its true identity, it being Ghost-type is perfect. However, this fact is why it is weird for it to also be a Fairy-type. Until followers of the franchise see its true identity, it would actually be best to wait to make it a dual-type.

3 Cutiefly

Cutiefly from the Pokemon franchise

Cutiefly is a Pokémon that understandably is a Bug-type, as its name explains exactly what it is: a cute fly. However, they likely have it as a Fairy-type as well to add a little more originality to it.

However, if this is the goal they had in mind when making it this type, they could have gone down a more fascinating path. It would have been spectacular if Cutiefly packed a little more of a punch as a surprising Fire-type, for example.

2 Dedenne

Dedenne from Pokemon tv series

Dedenne seems to just be a smaller version of Raichu, which does make it extremely adorable, of course. This is why it also makes sense that it is an Electric-type, as it is a spitting image of them.

However, a strange twist with this one is that it also is a Fairy-type. It is understandable that the series likely wanted to differentiate Dedenne from the other electric rodents, but this does not seem like the best path for it specifically. Perhaps they could have thrown a complete 180 and let it succeed as Water-type, too.

1 Klefki

Klefki from Pokemon tv series

Klefki is a Pokémon that everyone cannot help but poke fun at. This is one of the creations from this series that probably shouldn't exist, but alas, this can't change. Yet, what is agitating about this is it actually is in the wrong type.

It is a Fairy-type, yet nothing about its appearances justifies it. Considering the fact that it is a floating key chain, it would have been more understandable as a Ghost-type.
