STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — An urban planner will discuss the ramifications of Speaker Cory Johnson’s plan to amend the city charter — affecting zoning and potentially removing community input — during a virtual Community Board 3 meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 27.
Paul Graziano, who is also a land use and zoning consultant, will address the legislation, “Planning Together: A Comprehensive Planning Framework for New York City and Intro No. 2186.” It would create a new commission to oversee combined land use, infrastructure and budget strategies with the goal of planning to reduce inequality (up-zoning) and support equitable growth (increase density.)
Concerns include the potential removal of community input through community boards and elected officials, and its effect on single-family zoning, according to Community Board 3.
Those interested in participating in the virtual meeting must register by 9 a.m. on the day of the meeting at www.nyc.gov/sicb3. They will be emailed a link to join the meeting.
Neither Community Board 1 nor Community Board 2 has any meetings scheduled this week.
