The Lakeland Union High School board didn’t have to go far to find its next district administrator. She was living right in Woodruff.

The board in special session Thursday voted unanimously to offer Claire Martin a contract as full-time interim district administrator. Board president Gary Smith said the Wisconsin Association of School Boards had offered Martin’s name as a suitable candidate to replace Rob Way, who resigned recently.

“We are very excited to have her on board,” said Smith, who confirmed Friday that Martin has accepted the position.

Her contract will run from Aug. 25 of this year to June 30, 2022.

The board spent an hour Thursday interviewing Martin. No other candidate had been scheduled for interviews, Smith said.

Both parties have yet to sign off on final approval of the contract. The board will meet in closed session during next Monday’s regular board meeting to finish up on those details.

Smith said Martin’s duties will encompass administration only. Way’s job duties were listed at 40 percent administrative and the rest as director of curriculum.

Previously, Martin was the interim superintendent at the Cedar Grove-Belgium School District, superintendent of Chilton School District, and a teacher and administrator at the Neenah School District.
