The director of LSU-Eunice’s nursing program says a member of the LSU Board of Supervisors pressured for a specific student’s admission to the school on multiple occasions, despite the student falling below the cut-off for the program.
According to WVUE-TV, text messages show that at-large LSU board member Lee Mallett may have used his power inappropriately to influence the admissions process.
LSUE Nursing Program Director Dr. Lisa Hawthorne says Mallett pressured Dr. Nancee Sorenson, the university’s chancellor, to ensure the admission of this student.
