Recruiting Roundup: Taking A Look At The Offensive 2023 Board - UW Dawg Pound

Happy Sunday Husky fans. With fall camp in full swing there hasn’t been much new news or any major developments to report on the recruiting front. With that being said I thought it may be a good time to look forward to the 2023 class and give you some of my early thoughts on the offensive side of the ball.

So far the Husky coaches have extended offers to 40 prospects in the 2023 class. 6 of those offers have been in the state of Washington and overall the offers extended are pretty indicative of where the numbers will probably fall. Here is a breakdown of the offensive recruiting board so far:

At quarterback the Huskies have offered one of the best quarterbacks in 2023 in Jaden Rashada from Pittsburg HS, CA. Rated as the 5th best quarterback in the country Rashada has the size (6’4” and 180 pounds) and arm strength to really fit the Husky offense well. The Huskies are doing well with Rashada but they will need to beat out ASU for his commitment (his dad’s alma Mater).

At running back the Huskies have extended 3 offers so far in the 2023 class, and it’s likely they will only take 1 back in the class. Right now that back looks like it will be Jayden Limar, 4 star running back from Lake Stevens HS, WA. Lunar is rated as the 7th best running back in the 2023 class and he currently holds offers from Michigan, Oregon, USC, and Texas A&M. The Huskies would love to wrap up Limar as quickly as possible, but if they can’t keep an eye on 4 star running back Tre Wisner from Connally HS, TX (same high school as current Husky Jayveon Sunday). Wisner is one of the top all purpose backs and the Huskies have offered and figure to get a look from Wisner (though it will be a battle as he has offers from Ohio State, LSU, Texas, and Oklahoma).

At wideout the Huskies will probably only take 1 wideout in the 2023 (barring significant attrition). The Huskies have only offered a couple of wideouts in the 2023 class. One of them is 4 Star wideout Zachariah Branch from Bishop Gorman HS, NV so far. Branch is one of the top wideouts in the class and it looks like the Huskies are on the outside looking in for him. The Huskies have also offered 4 Star Rico Flores, an athlete out of Folsom HS, CA. Flores is one of the fastest players in California, and at 6’2” already he has an ideal frame to be an outside wideout for the Huskies. The Huskies will need to beat a lot of schools for Flores but if they can get him on campus they have a fighting chance. I would expect several new offers going out in the 2023 class as prospects seasons get underway.

At tight end the Huskies have extended 7 offers, which seems to show that they will try and take 2 in the 2023 class. Of the 7 that they have offered the Huskies are probably doing the best with Walker Lyons, a 4 star prospect from Folsom HS, CA, and Jackson Bowers from Mountain View HS, AZ (who is also a 4 star tight end). Lyons visited UW recently and is rated as the 3rd best tight end in the class, but the Huskies will need to beat out Oregon, Alabama, Oklahoma, and LSU for his commitment. Bowers is another one of the top tight ends in the class, but the Huskies will need to beat out ASU and BYU for his commitment. If I had to guess right now the Huskies are probably the favorite for Bowers and at or near the top of the favorites for Lyons). The Huskies are also pushing for the top tight end in the 2023 class, Duce Robinson a 4 star tight end from Pinnacle HS, AZ. However they have some really stiff competition with the likes of Ohio State, Georgia and Oklahoma leading the pack for him.

Along the offensive line the Huskies have offered and are after 2 of the best in-state lineman so far in the 2023 class. Micah Banuelos a 3 star offensive guard from Kennedy Catholic HS, WA was offered by the Huskies a few months ago. Banuelos is rated as the 17th best interior lineman in the 2023 class and the Huskies are the odds on favorite to land him. 3 star offensive guard Landen Hatchett from Ferndale HS, WA was offered after participating in the dirt Dawgs camp. Rated as the 19th best best interior offensive lineman the Huskies would appear to also be the favorite for Hatchett (whose brother plays for the Huskies right now). The Huskies would love to add both Hatchett and Banuelos who have several other offers, but both are grinders who would fit well with what coach Scott Huff is trying to accomplish on the line. Right now I would predict both will end up Huskies when they sign. The Huskies likely aren’t going to take a tackle if they can land Josh Conerly a 5 star offensive tackle from Rainier Beach HS, WA.

That is all for today and as always follow me @asieverkropp.
