When putting together a team of seven Pokémon, many trainers like to pick Pokémon with either the fewest defensive weaknesses or Pokémon with the most type resistances. Pokémon with more type resistances take reduced damage from many different types of moves.

Steel-type Pokémon generally have the most resistances out of all of the Pokémon types, and the Pokémon with the most type resistances are all at least part Steel-type. The most resistances a Pokémon can have is 11 resistances. The top 10 Pokémon with the most type resistances have 8 to 11 resistances and at least 1 immunity. Alolan Marowak falls just short of this list with a total of 7 resistances and 2 immunities, being the only Pokémon with so many resistances that isn't a Steel-type.

Unlike the regular Ground-type Diglett and Dugtrio, Alolan Diglett and Dugtrio are Ground and Steel-type Pokémon that have fantastic hair. These hairs are actually whiskers, which are made of steel and are used as sensors. Using their whiskers allows them to detect vibrations from sounds from miles away.

The whiskers also offer protection and help these Pokémon to burrow through the ground more easily. Alolan Diglett and Dugtrio are resistant to Normal, Flying, Rock, Bug, Steel, Psychic, Dragon, and Fairy types. They are completely immune to Poison and Electric types.

These three Pokémon are resistant to Normal, Flying, Rock, Steel, Grass, Psychic, Ice, Dragon, And Fairy types. They are completely immune to Poison-type moves.

8 Heatran Is A Steel And Fire-Type With 9 Resistances And 1 Immunity

Heatran's body is made of steel, which is partially melted in some spots because of the heat generated by the magma-like blood in its body. It prefers to reside in volcanic caves, and its cross-shaped feet are capable of scaling ceilings and walls.

Heatran is resistant to Normal, Flying, Bug, Steel, Grass, Psychic, Ice, Dragon, and Fairy-type moves. As a Steel-type, Heatran is completely immune to Poison-type moves.

7 Skarmory Is A Steel And Flying-Type With 8 Resistances And 2 Immunities

Skarmory was introduced in Generation 2, and does not evolve from or into anything. Skarmory's feathers are durable and sharp as swords, and when it sheds its feathers, people make them into swords or knives. The latter is popular amongst chefs.

The feathers rust easily, so Skarmory avoids water. Skarmory is resistant to Normal, Flying, Bug, Steel, Grass, Psychic, Dragon, and Fairy types. It is immune to Poison and Ground-type moves.

6 Steelix Is A Steel And Ground-Type With 8 Resistances And 2 Immunities

While its previous form, Onix, is a Ground and Rock-type, Steelix is a Ground and Steel-type after being traded while carrying a Metal Coat. By swallowing the iron in soil and having its body compressed deep underground, its body is now more durable than diamonds.

It is resistant to Normal, Flying, Rock, Bug, Steel, Psychic, Dragon, and Fairy-type moves. It is immune to Poison and Electric-type moves.

5 Mawile Is A Steel And Fairy-Type With 9 Resistances And 2 Immunities

Introduced in Generation 3, Mawile is a Pokémon that lures unsuspecting foes in with its cute face, before biting them with its sharp jaws made of steel. Its teeth are actually horns, which are powerful enough to chew through iron beams.

This Pokémon is resistant to Normal, Flying, Bug, Rock, Grass, Psychic, Ice, Dark, and Fairy-type moves. Mawile is immune to Poison and Dragon-type moves.

4 Empoleon Is A Steel And Water-Type With 10 Resistances And 1 Immunity

Empoleon, unlike its prior forms Prinplup and Piplup, is part Steel-type. Its razor-sharp steel is located on the flippers of its body. These flippers can effortlessly slice through large pieces of ice as it travels through the water as fast as a jet boat.

3 Meltan/Melmetal Are Steel-Types With 10 Resistances And 1 Immunity

Meltan and Melmetal are Mythical Pokémon that are purely Steel-type, and they can be found in Pokémon GO. Meltan melts metals found in soil to absorb them into its body, and the strongest Meltan absorbs other Meltan in order to evolve into Melmetal, which can create iron from nothing.

Both Pokémon are resistant to Normal, Flying, Rock, Bug, Steel, Grass, Psychic, Ice, Dragon, and Fairy-types. They are immune to Poison-type moves.

2 Registeel Is A Steel-Type With 10 Resistances And 1 Immunity

Registeel is A Steel-type Legendary Pokémon and one of the Legendary Giants along with Regirock, Regice, Regieleki, and Regidrago. Its hollow body is made with the hardest known type of metal which is surprisingly flexible enough to stretch and shrink. It is impossible to scratch it.

Registeel is resistant to Normal, Flying, Rock, Bug, Steel, Grass, Psychic, Ice, Dragon, and Fairy-types. It is completely immune to Poison-type moves.

1 Magnemite/Magneton/Magnezone Are Steel And Electric-Types With 11 Resistances and 1 Immunity

Magnemite, Magneton, and Magnezone are the Pokémon that have the most resistances, meaning 12 different types of Pokémon will do little to no damage to them. Their bodies are made entirely of steel, but they are able to generate magnetism.

These three Pokémon are resistant to Normal, Flying, Rock, Bug, Steel, Grass, Electric, Psychic, Ice, Dragon, And Fairy-types. They are immune to Poison-type moves.
