Last Thursday, the University announced that the Board of Trustees had elected its officers for the 2021-2022 term, according to a press release. The individuals will start their positions on July 1 and will remain until June 30, 2022.
Tilak Lal, senior vice president and co-head of investment risk management at Franklin Templeton Investments as well as graduate of the Rutgers School of Engineering, has been elected to serve a one-year term as chair of the Board, according to the release.
He has previously served as co-vice chair and has been on the governing boards’ Joint Committee on Investment for 10 years, committee chair for eight years and is an alumnus trustee through 2023.
Alan M. Crosta Jr., immediate past chair of anesthesiology at Morristown Medical Center as well as graduate and alumnus of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, has been elected to serve as co-vice chair of the Board, according to the release.
He has previously served on the Board of Governors’ committees on audit, athletics, finance and facilities and academic and student affairs, as well as the Board of Trustees executive committee, where he chaired the nominating committee and the task force on assessment. Crosta is also a member of the Rutgers University Foundation’s Board of Directors, a Loyal Son of Rutgers and is serving his second term as an alumnus trustee through 2025.
Nimesh S. Jhaveri, president of Community Pharmacy at McKesson and alumnus of the Ernest J. Mario School of Pharmacy, has also been elected to serve as co-vice chair of the Board, according to the release.
He is a member of the Board of Governors’ Committee on Health Affairs, where he served as committee chair in 2015, and is a board member of various other organizations as well. Jhaveri has previously served on the audit committee, the Board of Trustees executive committee, the University’s 21st Presidential Search Committee and is serving his second term as an alumnus trustee through 2023.
The current chair of the Board, Jose A. Piazza, vice president of corporate financial planning and analysis at Verizon Communications, will be joining the Board of Governors as a trustee governor for the July 1 to June 30, 2027 term, according to the release.
