All but one of the five Shelby County Schools board members up for re-election have retained their seats. This board will help shape learning during COVID-19 for Tennessee's largest school district.
Board chairwoman Miska Clay-Bibbs retained her District 7 seat, along with Althea Greene in District 2, Stephanie Love in District 3 and Kevin Woods in District 4. Greene, in District 2, was the only candidate to run uncontested.
Sheleah Harris will replace incumbent Scott McCormick in District 5.
ELECTION RESULTS: 2020 Tennessee Primary Election Results
Unofficial results show the following:
Althea Greene, who ran unopposed in District 2, received 6,571 of 6,655 total votes. There were 84 write-ins.
Of 7,561 total votes in District 3, Stephanie Love received 4,933, Jesse Jeff received 1,721 and Aaron Youngblood received 883. There were 24 write-ins.
Of 12,490 total votes in District 4, Kevin Woods received 7,463, Tamarques Porter received 2,634, Kristy Sullivan received 1,990 and Clyde Wayne Pinkston received 382. There were 21 write-ins.
Of 13,190 total votes in District 5, Sheleah Harris received 6,401, Scott McCormick received 4,196, April Ghueder received 1,373, Paul Evelyn Allen received 779 and Mauricio Calvo received 402. There were 39 write-ins.
Of 6,378 total votes in District 7, Miska Clay-Bibbs received 3,916 and Trevor Johnson Banks received 2,439. There were 23 write-ins.
District 2 represents parts of North Memphis and Binghampton; District 3 represents Raleigh, Frayser and the northwestern-most parts of the school district; District 4 represents southeastern parts of the district and parts of Germantown; District 5 represents Cordova and the northeastern-most parts of the school district; District 7 represents Parkway Village and southern parts of the district.

Who is incoming board member Harris?
Sheleah Harris prevailed in District 5. She ran against incumbent Scott McCormick, as well as April Ghueder, Paul Evelyn Allen and Mauricio Calvo, who suspended his campaign on July 17 and endorsed Harris, according to his website.
The incoming SCS board member has a background in education and is the founder and executive director of Living Grace, Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to youth experiencing homelessness, according to her website biography. She has been a high school teacher for SCS and Bartlett City Schools, per her website, and was a graduate of Cordova High School, in District 5. Harris has a bachelor's degree in marketing management from the University of Memphis, a master's in education from Freed-Hardeman University and certification in K-12 education for the state of Tennessee, her website said.
Outgoing board member McCormick was first elected to the school board in 2014. He most recently served as the co-chair of the board's superintendent evaluation committee. He is a graduate of White Station High School and the University of Memphis, according to his SCS biography. He also served on the Memphis City Council from 2004 to 2008 and unsuccessfully ran for state house in 2018.
