WEST CHESTER TWP. – The Lakota Board of Education is looking for a new member following the resignation of Todd Parnell.
Now in his seventh year on the board, Parnell said family obligations and a potential new job out-of-town led him to resign from the board 16 months before his second term ended.
“With my business issues and family obligations I didn’t feel I could give the board of education the effort it requires,’’ Parnell said.

“I’ve been working with some wonderful board members. I felt like I have given something back to the community.’’
First elected to the board in 2013, Parnell was re-elected in 2017. His term runs through Dec. 31, 2021.
Parnell said he is leaving the board with the district in a good fiscal position with a great staff. He is particularly proud of being on the board that hired Superintendent Matt Miller three years ago.
“I will always be a staunch supporter of the district will do anything I can to help the progress we have made keep going forward,’’ Parnell said in his resignation letter.
The board has 30 days to name Parnell’s replacement.
“I would like to thank Mr. Parnell for his many years of service to our community,’’ said board member Lynda O’Connor.
