TAMPA, Fla. — A vote may happen today by the Hillsborough County School Board which could impact how school starts in the 8th largest school district in the country.
Board members will conduct conversations with medical experts Thursday.

Board members then determine if they need to vote to overturn a return to brick and mortar schools plan, opting for students to learn from home for the first nine weeks of the school year.
The board previous approved a plan which included parent and student choice between returning to classrooms, or enrolling in various forms of online learning.
Hanging in the balance of todays vote is around 100,000 students that have opted to return to brick and mortar schools.
A declaration of intent has been submitted by more than 150,000 parents and students, with around 80% saying they want to return to classrooms.
Despite teacher protests to classrooms re-opening, the school district says 57 percent of teachers surveyed say they want to return to classroom instruction.
Superintendent Addison Davis says regardless of the vote today, the school district will be ready for the start of school regardless of the form of learning the board decides.
"We've been rigorously working with staff to prepare for brick and mortar return, to prepare for remote return and also a virtual return," Superintendent Davis said. "So all the plans are in place it doesn't put us back at all."
A special board meeting will happen beginning at 9:30am, but the timing of the vote is not clear.
A group of teachers are planning a demonstration outside of the administration building as the meeting happens.
