There’s no doubt that the Acura Integra Type S is a hot commodity. Examples arrived at dealers less than a month ago and it’s taken almost no time at all for a crazy markup to show up. One in Wappingers Falls, New York stacked a markup and extras on top of the MSRP to the tune of $73,417.

As a general reminder, the Integra Type S starts at $50,800 and features an engine with 320 hp (239 kW) and 310 lb-ft (420 Nm) of torque. Despite the performance chops of this sedan, that price tag is already pretty high for a car of this kind. Moreover, there’s no version with AWD as one would get in the GR Corolla. It also lacks some premium features like ventilated seats.

In terms of direct competitors, the Honda Civic Type R costs less and has nearly the same performance chops. The Cadillac CT4-V also costs less, is arguably more capable in every way, and has the option of AWD. Acura of Wappingers Falls must think that somebody really wants to pay extra for the privilege of owning this exact Integra Type S then.

Acura Dealer Marks Up Integra Type S To $73,417

We say that because they’ve slapped some $20,000 worth of extras onto this car that Acura itself says should cost $52,595. In a pair of photos posted to Facebook, we see a hand-written list of those extras including carbon fiber mirror caps ($600), an illuminated front badge ($350), premium carpet mats ($240), and more. In case the extras weren’t enough, Wappingers Falls has a “Market Adjustment” of $15,000 on it too.

That brings the grand total to $73,417.88, or exactly $20,822.88 more than a customer will expect to pay if they check out the car online. Keep in mind that Wappingers Falls says it has four of these cars and all have their MSRP listed as the price online. Surely, somebody must be willing to pay somewhere near this price if the dealer is willing to try and charge it but this is one heck of a weird way to spend nearly $75k.
