A Red Dead Redemption 2 player accidentally created a burned horse while playing the open world western game. Red Dead Redemption 2 is filled with horses that players can use to speed up travel time. They come in all kinds of different shapes and sizes, with certain horses having better stats than others.
Of course, the player character isn't the only one that can use horses in the game. Many other characters can be found riding around on horseback in Red Dead Redemption 2. This includes law enforcement, who use their horses to run down player character Arthur Morgan whenever players find themselves on the ring side of the law. One such law enforcement horse was recently transformed into a burned horse by Reddit user Shot_by_cops.
The Reddit user explained that they shot a law man with incendiary shotgun ammo while playing Red Dead Redemption 2. Apparently, the incendiary ammo hit the horse and caught it on fire. The horse somehow survived the incident long enough for the flames to go away. The player then used a horse revive on the creature to bring it back to life, but it retained the damage from its burns. This gave the horse a unique appearance that helped it stand out from the many other horses found throughout Red Dead Redemption 2's open world.
Unfortunately for those wanting to get a burned horse of their own, the Reddit user confirmed that it reverted to normal after they fast-traveled. While this is good news for the horse, it's bad news for any Red Dead Redemption 2 players who were wanting to add this kind of horse variant to their collection.
As some may recall, there once was an official Undead Horse variant in Red Dead Redemption. The Undead Nightmare DLC for the original Red Dead Redemption gave players the chance to ride a zombified horse. Many were holding out hope that Rockstar would create an Undead Nightmare-equivalent DLC for Red Dead Redemption 2, but unfortunately, it never came to pass.
While fans may never get their hands on an Undead Nightmare DLC for Red Dead Redemption 2, it seems fans of the franchise will have something new to look forward to at some point in the near future. Reputable leakers have suggested that a Red Dead Redemption remaster is in development and could release soon. It's unclear if such a remaster would include the Undead Nightmare content or not.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
