The Indiana School Board will meet tonight and many of the items up for approval tonight have to do with the start of school, which has been pushed to September 8.
Items on the agenda include purchasing additional internet bandwidth and software purchases and the approval of substitutes for nurses, custodians and security officers.
The board will also look to approve changing their pre-K enrollment guidelines to allow students who live outside the district to enroll in Indiana’s pre-K program if the program has not reached full capacity by August 21st, and the board is also looking at suspending all foreign exchange programs for the next school year due to coronavirus concerns.
The school board meeting is set to start at 7:30 and will be held online.
Superintendent Michael Vuckovich will join us at 8:45 this morning on Indiana in the Morning to talk about back to school plans.
Tonight is also the first of two nights of virtual town hall meetings for the district. This will give families the opportunity to learn more about the district’s reopening plans at a building level. Links to participate in the virtual town hall meetings are in the calendar section of the district’s website at www.iasd.cc
Tonight’s town hall meetings will be for the Junior High from 5-6 PM, the Senior High and East Pike from 6-7 PM, and Horace Mann from 7-8 PM. Tuesday will be town hall meetings for Ben Franklin from 4:30 to 5:30 and Eisenhower from 5:30 to 6:30 PM.
